WARRIORS poster boy Khama Billiat is confident they will get a positive result against Kenya in an 2025 AFCON qualifier at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday.
Needing at least a draw, the Warriors are favourites to get the result they want and secure another dance at Africa’s biggest football extravaganza.
The Warriors are marking the 20th anniversary of their maiden appearance at the Nations Cup finals.
Billiat said:
“It’s a very important game and we are in a situation that we can control. We know what is at stake for us.
“We know very well that it’s the most important game for us.
“It’s a must-win and we will have to concentrate.
It’s a very important game for us. We will fight till the end.”
Under the guidance of German coach Michael Nees, the Warriors have been on song and the ZIFA bosses have paid tribute to him for the good results so far.
Nees, who is seeking his first appearance at the AFCON finals, said the clash against Kenya was a big one.
“We will need to give our maximum efforts on Friday. We need to get a result that we need before we celebrate.
“It all needs a collective effort before we go and face Cameroon,” said Nees.
Captained by Marvelous Nakamba, the Warriors are coming from back-to-back wins against Namibia, a development that delighted ZIFA chairman Lincoln Mutasa.
“We have high hopes for his (Nees) tenure, and we’re already seeing his impact.
“He has even managed to convince some former national team players to return from retirement.
“We are confident our Warriors are in capable and inspiring hands under his leadership,” said Mutasa.
