IN-FORM Zimbabwe international midfielder Khama Billiat should be counting his lucky stars after he was involved in car accident in South Africa on Saturday but escaped with minor injuries. His friend Knowledge Musona is unlikely to play again for Kaizer Chiefs this year.

Billiat’s car smashed into a tree and the forward escaped with bruises.
According to reports from South Africa, the accident happened late on Saturday and the skilful winger could be out of the league match against Free Stars at Loftus tomorrow.

Sundowns doctor Carl Tabane told the media in South Africa that, “Billiat suffered minor bruises on his neck and chest but should be back to full health in no time.”

His club has not yet established the cause of the accident but it understood that the former Aces Youth Academy star was trying to avoid a head-on collision.

The Brazilians’ communications manager, Thulani Thsuwa, told his clubs’ official website that Khama will be assessed today to see if he can be ready for the league match tomorrow.

“It happened late on Saturday, but he is okay. He suffered minor bruises to his neck and chest.
“He was given three days off and he will be reassessed on Tuesday.

“From what we know, he was trying to avoid two oncoming cars around a bend and he hit a tree,” said Thsuwa.
Billiat has been in top form since he joined Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the season after moving from Ajax Cape Town in one of the biggest transfer deals in South African football.

At Sundowns, Billiat has the company of fellow Zimbabweans Esrom Nyandoro, Cuthbert Malajila and Peter Ndlovu, who is part of the back-room staff.

Billiat has been praised by coach Pitso Mosimame, who said the Zimbabwean was “special”.
Meanwhile, reports from South Africa indicate that Musona may not feature for Kaizer Chiefs this year after his injury on the shoulder was confirmed to be worse than initially feared.

Musona was injured during a Telkom Cup quarter-final tie against Free Stars when he landed awkwardly and initial indications pointed that it was just a dislocated shoulder.

But there was bad news from the medical team yesterday as Musona, who is on loan from German club TSG Hoffenheim, could only be back in January 2014.

Club officials revealed that he suffered a broken shoulder bone with the latest medical report saying he will not return before the December break.
