D1 Northern Region tough: Mathuthu

Takudzwa Chitsiga Sports Reporter
ZPC Kariba coach Josthein Mathuthu believes the Zifa Northern Region Division One league has been as competitive, this season, as the Premiership. It is the only Division One league whose winner is yet to be decided, although Mathuthu and his men put one foot in the top-flight league after they ground out a crucial point on the road after holding Flame Lilly 1-1 at Chikurubi over the weekend.

“It’s a very competitive league and some of the games have been unbelievable in terms of the quality that we have seen,” said Mathuthu.
“The Premiership is the top league but, from what I have seen this year, our Division One league isn’t far off in terms of quality.

“It’s a tough league to win and there are some very good players in the league.”
Power Master slumped to a painful 1-2 defeat at home at the hands of an impressive Chegutu Pirates at Ngoni in Norton. Pirates, backed by their big and vocal traveling band of fans, were full value for their victory.
