Two Khama Night Club bouncers and a waitress have appeared in court on allegations of assaulting and stealing US$2000 from a drunk reveller.

Knowledge Mashamba (40), who is the head of security, Keen Mutombwa (35), a bouncer, and Sasha Nhandara (23), a waitress, were facing assault and theft charges when they appeared before a Harare magistrate.

They were remanded out of custody to February 11.

It is the State’s case that on November 9, 2025 at around midnight, the complainant, Gabriel Gwaze (45), went into Khama Night Club in Chisipite, Harare, with his friends.

At around 4am, Nhandara told the complainant, who was leaving the club, that he had an outstanding bill of US$270.

The court heard that a misunderstanding ensued, prompting Mutombwa and Nhandara to push Gwaze onto the sofa. They continued the argument for more than thirty minutes.

It is alleged that Marimo, who is still at large, manhandled Gwaze into a small passage where the accused persons assaulted him.

The State alleges that the accused took advantage of Gwaze’s intoxication, searched him and stole US$2000 from him.

Gwaze later paid the bill after retrieving three hundred dollars from another pocket. He was then given his US$30 change.

The court heard that the complainant was then escorted out of the club by Mashamba and Mutombwa, at which point he discovered that US$2000 had been stolen from him.

The complainant subsequently went to the police and filed a report.

The total value stolen is US$2000 and nothing was recovered.
