JOHANNESBURG. – Six Kaizer Chiefs stars’ contracts are coming to an end but there is good news – these three stars are likely to earn contract extensions this January.
Itumeleng Khune, Erick Mathoho, Njabulo Blom, S’fiso Hlanti, Phathutshedzo Nange and Khama Billiat’s contracts are coming to end, as reported on Goal.com.
However, some of these players are too important to Amakhosi management.
Therefore, they are likely to have their contracts extended.
We have a very good idea who is likely to be given a contract extension.
Khune, Blom and Hlanti are all likely to earn contract extensions.
Khune is club captain and has only just started to earn regular playing time under Arthur Zwane.
So, they are very likely to extend his contract given Khune’s importance to the team and Amakhosi supporters.
Khune was also in excellent form prior to his injury and is still a favourite amongst Amakhosi fans.
He was yet again the most voted for player in Mzansi in this year’s Carling Black Label Cup.
Unfortunately, he missed the tournament as he has been injured since the 9 October where he limped off against Stellenbosch FC in a DStv Premiership encounter.
Therefore, he still has plenty to prove when the PSL returns after Zwane and Amakhosi management handed him the captains armband.
His teammate, Blom has just been offered a new multi-million rand deal to stay at Naturena.
Furthermore, the club is even looking at sacrificing one of their highest-paid players, Khama Billiat in order to ensure he stays.
Therefore, Blom has already been offered a contract extension.
Hlanti is also likely to earn an extension because he is a PSL veteran and he has been in good form under Zwane.
He brings much-needed experience and composure at the back and is one of the few experienced players in form left at Amakhosi alongside Khune.
Other experienced campaigners, Mathoho and Billiat are out of form and could be heading out Naturena as their contracts come to an end. – msn
