BULAWAYO netball giants Khami Queens received a timely boost ahead of their clash with Support Unit in a Super League match on Saturday.
Moonlight Funeral Services donated a complete netball kit which was handed to them at Mhlahlandlela Government Complex on Tuesday.
“We have been working hand in glove with the prisons and it is our policy that we keep them healthy by playing sport. We don’t want people to die, we want them to keep paying our policies,” said Chenayi Nyamupfukudza, the Moonlight Matabeleland regional manager.
Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Matabeleland Region chief staff officer, Social Ndanga, praised the move by Moonlight to support their team.
“We appreciate what Moonlight are doing, every prison officer must be fit so this donation will go a long way in achieving that,” he said.
Khami Queens are one of the four Matabeleland teams in the Super League with Jumbo Queens and two Hwange outfits ZPC and Colliery.
Khami had a weekend of mixed fortunes last weekend as they won 39-19 against Airforce and lost twice to Nehanda 56-26 and Corn Gold 47-46.
Khami coach Irvine Zimbizi said the donation was a morale booster in their campaign ahead of their tie against Harare outfit Support Unit.
“We have been doing well, we hope that the kit will raise the girls’ morale. We have games in hand and if we manage to win them we will be ontop of the log table,” he said.
Bulawayo Netball League secretary-general Sekani Dube and development officer Menfree Tanyanyiwa attended the ceremony.
