AFTER years of lending his voice to numerous worship projects as a backing vocalist, Bulawayo-based gospel musician Khonzani Salvin Bhebhe is set to break new ground as he prepares to record his maiden solo live DVD, a milestone he believes is divinely ordained.
Dubbed Songs of Revival, the live recording will take place in Bulawayo on July 4, with the worship project carrying a passionate call for believers to return to God through prayer, worship and a deeper relationship with Him.
For Khonzani, the event marks a defining chapter in his ministry after years of serving behind the scenes as a backing vocalist.
The independent gospel artiste said the production is more than a musical event, describing it as a spiritual assignment inspired by God’s burden for revival.
“This is my first live DVD recording as a lead artiste, making it a very special milestone in my ministry journey. While
I have participated in many recordings as a background vocalist and released my debut single, this is my first opportunity to record a full live worship project carrying the message God has entrusted to me.
“The project is centred on the message of revival and calling people back to God through worship, prayer and a deeper relationship with Him.
“More than simply recording songs, my prayer is that people will encounter God in a fresh way and experience His love, presence, healing and restoration,” said Khonzani.
The live DVD will feature seven original songs developed over several years, carrying messages of hope, restoration, God’s faithfulness and a growing hunger for His presence. Among them is Revival (Lord We Want More), his debut single released in October last year, which laid the foundation for the vision behind the upcoming recording.
The recording will also bring together celebrated worshippers Ellayne Miller, Sean B and Andile Ndlovu, musicians whom Khonzani credits with shaping both his musical journey and spiritual growth.
“I am privileged to be collaborating with Ellayne Miller and Sean B, whose contributions have added great value to the project. I am also honoured to have Andile Ndlovu participating because he has been one of the major influences in my musical and spiritual journey.
“Their presence means a great deal to me, not only because of their musical gifts but also because of the impact they have had on my ministry over the years,” he said.
Although excited about the historic occasion, Khonzani admitted that recording his first live DVD comes with its own challenges, particularly as an independent artiste. However, he remains confident that God has prepared him for the moment.
“There is naturally some pressure that comes with such a significant undertaking, especially as an independent artiste, but above all, I have a deep sense of peace and expectation. I believe God has been preparing me for this moment for many years, and I am trusting Him to accomplish His purpose through this recording,” said Khonzani.
As the countdown to the recording continues, Khonzani said he is hopeful the worship experience will leave a lasting spiritual impact on attendees.
“People can expect an atmosphere of genuine worship, heartfelt ministry and a powerful message of revival. My desire is that everyone who attends or watches the recording will leave encouraged, spiritually refreshed and inspired to pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ,” he said.
