adminAgents are struggling to sell the house where Bafana Bafana goal keeper Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down – and the neighbours’ talk of ghosts isn’t helping. According to Drum magazine, Kelly Khumalo’s mother, Ntombi Khumalo, put the house on the market for about R490,000 – but after months of trying to sell it noone has made an offer.
While a lot of people have come to see the house, they’ve been put off by fears that it may be haunted by Meyiwa’s spirit. Meyiwa was killed at the house in a botched robbery.
His father claimed that the family couldn’t afford to perform ukubuyisa, where they need to slaughter a cow and a goat. “If I don’t do this ritual, my son is not going to rest in peace,” said the elder Meyiwa.
Last month, Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Irvin Khoza announced that Meyiwa’s insurance had paid out – to the chagrin of the dead soccer star’s father.
“I know nothing about that (insurance payout). He can’t go to the media about this without informing us first. I also only heard about it in the media.”
“Khoza and the PSL have not said a word to me, instead I received many calls from the newspapers,” Meyiwa said. – Drum
