Kick-boxers to lighten Beitbridge

the Inter-Continental Kickboxing Championships at the Omadu Lodge.
Zimbabwe will be represented by 11 athletes. The country is pinning its hopes on the main event pitting veteran Bernard “The Jet” Roben and a Finish kickboxer Jussila.

Roben was nicknamed “The Jet” by his fans because of his lightning speed in the ring. He has scooped most of the prizes in main events since he came into the sport in 2003.
Some of the participating athletes from Beitbridge are Tatenda Muvandi, Isaac Mhlanga, Mazwi Zwambili, Ngonidzashe Maphosa and Raban Mutunzi.
Other participants are expected to come from Pakistan, New Zealand, Ireland and Finland.

“The Jet” said he was rearing to go and promised to raise the national flag high in the tournament.
“Preparations for the tournament are underway and we are all raring to go. We are calling on all the kick boxing fans from Beitbridge to come in their numbers and support their fellow countrymen.

“Every athlete in the team started preparing for the matches two months ago and are well in shape and only waiting for the day.
“I also want to warn Jussila that he should not take me for granted since I am prepared to match him blow by blow. I am in this game to win.

“There will be several categories such as lightweight, welterweight, middleweight and heavyweight,” he said.
