Kidnap drama soldier pleads not guilty

A BULAWAYO soldier who allegedly sneaked into his neighbour’s house in Kensington suburb and kidnapped the family’s six -year-old daughter before leaving behind a black bag containing his army payslip, has pleaded not guilty.

Njabulo Tshuma, 30, appeared before magistrate Glademore Mushove charged with unlawful entry and kidnapping.

He was remanded in custody to today for trial.

Prosecuting, Dumisani Ndlovu said on Tuesday at about midnight,Tshuma entered Dennis Moyo’s house in Kensington after forcing open a door which was secured with a chain.

“After gaining entry into the house he found the girl aged six sleeping on a sofa,” said Ndlovu.

Tshuma lifted the girl and ran away with her.

“The girl screamed for help and her father Moyo ran after Tshuma and caught up with him outside the yard,” said Ndlovu.

Moyo reported the matter to the police leading to Tshuma’s arrest.

The court heard that Tshuma left behind his black and purple satchel which contained a Zimbabwe National Army payslip.
