HE came, he teed off, he conquered – again!
Zimbabwe’s golf sensation Kieran Vincent is proving to be the real deal on the Sunshine Tour after clinching another sizzling title yesterday at the Waterfall City Tournament of Champions at Royal Johannesburg.
Fresh off defending his crown at the Kit Kat Cash and Carry, Vincent turned up the heat once more, carding a scorching 61 in the third round, without dropping a single shot!
After opening with a calm 70, he followed it up with a solid 69, before going nuclear on Saturday. A final round 70 sealed the deal, giving him a tournament total of 18-under-par 270, four shots clear of South African heavyweight Daniel van Tonder.
Pieter Moolman finished third at 13-under.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. The drama kicked off early in the final round when Vincent double-dipped out of bounds on the par-four third.
“The first one went OB, and then the second followed,” he confessed. “At that point, I knew I had to fight.”
And fight he did.
With nerves of steel, Kieran clawed his way back into control, draining seven birdies on the tricky composite nine-hole layout — a first for him.
“It was all about grit. My team has been talking about fighting, and that’s what kept me going,” Vincent said. “It was a challenge, but I loved every moment of it.”
The latest triumph cements Kieran’s place as Zimbabwe’s hottest golf export, continuing to make noise on the international stage while flying the national flag high.
