Hip Hop sensation Kikky Badass is set to raise the Zimbabwean flag high as she has been named as one of the major performers at this year’s Hennessy Back to the City International Festival slated for 12 October.
The much anticipated Hip Hop concert will be held at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg, South Africa. The concert is the leading Hip Hop event all over Africa which has hosted local and international artistes.
Big names who will be part of this year’s event are Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Blxckie, Maglera Doe Boy, Big Zulu, Okmalumkoolkat, Emtee, Stogie T, Priddy Ugly, Touchline and Ginger Trill, Siya Shezi, Zulu Mecca, as well as Major Steez amongst other performers.

Legends who will be honoured at the gig are the late maestro HHP, Kwaito Pioneer Thebe, Zubz, Pitch Black Afro as well as Mr Selwyn – a Hip Hop guru with Zimbabwean roots.
Kikky Badass said she was excited to have been chosen as a headliner on such a stellar and life-changing event.
“It’s such an honour to finally break boundaries and be part of this magnificent Hip Hop gathering, the fact that I have been called up is a sign that the work we put in every day and night is visible and recognisable.
“This is a dream come true because I have been longing to feature at the festival as it is the biggest in the Hip Hop segment and I will utilise the platform to connect and establish new relations with other artistes and maybe later we will then talk of future collaborations.

I am looking forward to showing Africa what I am capable of and representing Zimbabwe to the fullest,” said Kikky Badass.
Organisers of the event assured fun to those who will attend the event.
“This year’s festival is going to be epic, with over 100 artistes, 60 stalls, and loads of cool activities to enjoy. Last year’s festival featured some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop, and we are expecting nothing less this year.
“Some of the activities you can expect at the festival include basketball courts, gaming, 10 000 Challenge, a clothing market specialising in Hip Hop and streetwear, graffiti competitions, and a wide variety of food and drink stalls,” reads part of the statement.
Back to the City festival was founded in 2007 by Osmic Menoe – a significant custodian in the African Hip hop scene.
