SIX Nyazura villagers, including two minors, allegedly took the law into their own hands and fatally assaulted a fellow villager they accused of stealing their property.

The gang was recently arraigned before the courts facing murder charges.

The six — Ardlife Musariri (21), Morris Bvopfo (19), Brian Nyamana (19), Ernest Mapfunde (48) and the two minors aged 17 and 11 respectively, all of Mapfunde Village in Nyazura, were represented by Mr Walter Mangwende of Chigadza and Associates.

They were not asked to plead when they appeared before Rusape magistrate, Mr Gift Manyika.

Mr Manyika released the two minors into the custody of their parents while the other four were remanded in custody to April 22.

State prosecutor, Mr Tawanda Munjanja told the court that the six fatally assaulted the now deceased, Kidwell Kavhiza, using sticks.

However, it was not stated in the court papers what Kavhiza had stolen from the accused persons.

“On April 5 and at Mapfunde Village under Chief Makoni, the six accused persons allegedly ganged up to assault the now late Kavhiza with sticks all over the body. Kavhiza later died,” said Mr Munjanja.
