A DETECTIVE who confessed to fatally shooting fellow detective Cassandra Hove has been remanded in custody after he initially appeared before a Bulawayo magistrate yesterday.

Nomore Muradzikwa, 37, is stationed at Hillside Police Station.

He appeared in court yesterday and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

He was represented by Tinashe Tashaya of Sengweni Legal Services and he did not enter a plea when he appeared before magistrate Maxwell Ncube.

The magistrate remanded him in custody to April 1, allowing time for the State to finalise its case.

Allegations are that on March 6, at around 8.30 pm, Muradzikwa and Detective Constable Hove were part of a team which was following up on information about an armed robbery case.

The accused was armed with a CZ pistol, serial number BSAP 44.

According to the State, he advanced towards Fikile Ncube, 20, a suspect in the robbery case which was being investigated by CID Homicide.

The State claims that when he shot at Ncube, the bullet ricocheted and struck his felow detective leading to her death.
