KILLER T CANADA-BOUND

CANADA-BASED arts and music promoter, Tinos “Slicey T” Viriri, believes in Killer T’s talent.

He is convinced the chanter is now reaping the fruits of his sweat due to hard work, focus and professionalism.

The former Slice Band member, who pioneered urban grooves before he settled in the North American country, has his kith and kin at heart.

Viriri, who has promoted the late Oliver Mtukudzi, superstar Jah Prayzah, living legend Thomas Mapfumo and South African outfit Mafikizolo over the years, has decided to take Killer T to Canada in July.

Killer T is billed to perform at the Afro Fest running from July 7-8 in Edmonton and Toronto.

He will share the stage with the likes of Alikiba from Tanzania and Ugandan Jose Chameleone, among others.

In an interview with H-Metro from his Canadian base, Viriri said Killer T’s music was in demand in that country.

“Killer T was recently included on this year’s festival by Music Africa to kick off from 7th – 9th July in Toronto Canada.

“The only artists that have performed on that platform include the late Tuku, Dr Thomas Mapfumo, and Jah Prayzah.

“Killer T will be the first Zimdancehall artist from Zimbabwe paving the way for the genre and other young talent emerging,” he said.

Viriri, who has a soft spot for Killer T, hailed the chanter for consistency which is now paying off.

“As artists, we click musically and, obviously, he is one person who I have always looked forward to working with over the years.

“He has always been a hard worker and he loves his job, thanks to his manager who is doing a great job.”

Viriri added: “The advice that I can give to Killer T is that he should continue doing what he is doing.

“He can shift a bit from the Zim dancehall genre and create his own sound since he is a brilliant songwriter and composer.

“People overseas prefer something authentic, which is purely Zimbabwean as was the case with Tuku.

“He needs to start creating his own sound like Tuku.

“He needs good producers like Oskid who can help him create his own sound.

“Overall, he is a professional guy and I am looking forward to working with him. People are excited to see him at the Afro Fest.”
