King rules Open shoot

Open Practical Pistol national championships hosted this year by Cleveland Pistol Club in Harare.
Although a number of South African competitors were unable to attend, Jorn SchmidtDumont travelled to Harare from Namibia to act as Rangemaster.
The shoot, consisting of 15 separate courses of fire and requiring 300 rounds per competitor to complete, was held over two days.
Cleveland’s Paul Friendship scored 1 141 points to take home the silver medal, and Dion Yatras from Mutare Pistol and Rifle Club won bronze with 1 131 points.
Ian Kay and Troy Maidwell of Bulawayo rounded out the top five with scores of 1 127 and 1 080 respectively.
Tara Maidwell of Donnington won the women’s category with 770 points and John Dudman, also from Bulawayo, emerged as the top Senior with 743 points.
The last match on the local calendar will be the Midlands provincial championships which will this year be hosted by Mutare in September.
In October, the newlyselected Zimbabwe national team of Paul Friendship, Ian Kay, Troy Maidwell and Pieter Greeff will travel to Greece for the16th Practical Pistol World Championships.
