Technology.
The accolade was presented last week during the Zimbabwe ICT 2011 Achievers Awards.
The ICT Achievers Awards recognise organisations for outstanding achievement in Information and Communication Technology.
This year’s ICT Achievers Awards had 15 categories, up from seven last year.
In the ICT supportive bank category, Kingdom Bank came out tops in recognition of its e-learning drive in schools.
Mr Nigel Chanakira founded Kingdom Bank in 1994.
Apart from providing banking services, Kingdom is mindful of the positive impact that a strong corporate social responsibility programme has in the communities that it serves.
In line with this thrust, Kingdom Bank embarked on a drive to assist local schools in implementing the e-learning programme that enables them to share ideas and resources among themselves and the rest of the world.
Kingdom is cognisant of the fact that the world today has become a global village hence the need for this development in our schools.
To date some of the schools that have benefited from this e-learning programme include Budiriro Primary School, Alexandra Park Primary School, Hillcrest College, Gateway Primary School and Eaglesvale School.
This programme has seen these schools consciously coming up with an ICT strategy and implementation plan.
In December 2011, Kingdom Bank launched the country’s first mobile money transfer product, Kingdom CellCard, becoming the first bank in Zimbabwe to transform retail banking into a service that is accessible to people from all walks of life anywhere and everywhere.
Kingdom CellCard encourages the unbanked population to enter the formal banking system enabling the financial sector to mobilise deposits and stimulate increased lending.
Another first from Kingdom Bank was the introduction of Rand Dispensing ATMs, offering choice and convenience to the banking public.
Kingdom also launched Cardless Withdrawal Transaction that has changed the face of banking in the country.
This solution was recognised as the most outstanding innovation in 2011 and Kingdom received the inaugural product of the year award at the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe convention held in Victoria Falls in October.
This unparalleled innovative solution enables CellCard account holders and non-CellCard account holders to withdraw cash from automated teller machines without a card.
Such innovations from Kingdom have had, without doubt, a positive impact on our economy, which is on the recovery path.
Kingdom Financial Holdings Limited distinguishes itself in the banking market with its core values which are communication, respect, integrity, learning, teamwork and excellence and its ability to pioneer new innovation in order to bring convenience not only to customers but to all the stakeholders.
