Kings of Kicks: Davison ‘Diva’ Feliate and Leroy Waps bring the heat to Zimbabwe’s sneaker scene

In the heart of Zimbabwe’s fashion capital, Bulawayo, two men have taken the sneaker game by storm. Davison ‘Diva’ Feliate and Leroy Waps, collectively known as the Kings of Kicks, have built an empire supplying the most sought-after sneaker brands to the style-conscious masses.

With their highly-anticipated Sneaker Expo just around the corner, on 23 November at the ZITF Pavilion, we caught up with the dynamic duo to get the scoop on their operation.

From humble beginnings to sneaker royalty

Feliate and Waps’ journey to becoming the Kings of Kicks began with a shared passion for sneakers.

“We met years ago, bonding over our love for fresh kicks,” Diva recalls.

“We would spend hours scouring the internet, searching for rare releases and limited editions.” Leroy chimes in.

“We realised there was a gap in the Zimbabwean market for authentic, high-quality sneakers. We decided to fill that void.”

The Sneaker Expo: A paradise for sneaker heads

On 23 November, the Kings of Kicks will unveil more of their merchandise at the annual Sneaker Expo. The Kings of Kicks are confident that this one-day event promises to be a sneaker enthusiast’s dream come true, featuring an impressive array of brands, including Adidas (Yeezy, UltraBoost, and more), Nike (Air Jordan, Dunk, and exclusive collaborations), Converse (Chuck Taylor, One Star, and limited editions), Vans (Old Skool, Sk8-Hi, and speciality designs) and  New Balance (574, 997, and premium collections)

“We’re talking rare kicks, limited editions, and exclusive collaborations,” Diva boasts.

“Our connections with international suppliers ensure we get the hottest releases, often before they hit global markets.”

Leroy emphasises: “We pride ourselves on authenticity. Our customers trust us to deliver genuine products, and we won’t compromise on quality.”

And Diva adds: “We’ve built relationships with reputable suppliers, ensuring our stock is 100% authentic.”

The Kings of Kicks have earned a reputation for tracking down hard-to-find sneakers.

“We’ve got a network of global connections. “We can get our hands on almost any sneaker, no matter how rare ,” Leroy reveals.

Diva teases: “Think Air Yeezy 2 ‘Red October’ or Nike Air Mag. We’ve had them all.”

The Kings’ personal favourites

When asked about their sneaker collections, Diva and Leroy geek out.

“I’ve got over 50 pairs,” Diva admits.

“My prized possession is the Nike Dunk SB ‘Paris’.”

Leroy chimes in: “I’ve got around 60 pairs. My favourite is the Adidas Yeezy Boost 750 ‘Light Brown’.”

The Kings of Kicks have played a significant role in shaping Zimbabwe’s sneaker culture.

“We’ve created a community,” Diva says proudly.

Leroy adds: “We’re inspiring a new generation of sneaker enthusiasts.”
