HERENTALS were the best performing Harare club in the domestic Premiership last season.
The Students won the unofficial crown of Kings of the Capital by finishing in fifth place while Dynamos finished in eighth place and CAPS United finished in ninth place.
Herentals won 12 games, the same as Makepekepe, but ended on 49 points while the Green Machine had 45 points.
Dynamos completed their season on 46 points.
Now, just a game into the new season, Herentals are already top of the table when one only considers the clubs from the capital.
The Students opened their new account with a 2-1 win over TelOne at Rufaro on Saturday.
Their ageless forward, Innocent “IB9” Benza even provided one of the highlights of the match when he nutmegged an opposition defender.
Newboys Scottland also opened their campaign with a victory after they edged Triangle 1-0 at Rufaro on Friday.
But, they scored one goal and Herentals scored two.
Dynamos and CAPS United opened their campaign with draws although the Green Machine will be the happier of the two as their point came on the road at GreenFuel.
The Chisumbanje side’s last league match last season was a 2-1 win over DeMbare.
