BUDDING Zim dancehall artiste, Kinnah will face a mammoth task to prove why he is one of the most celebrated dancehall musicians when he performs at popular entertainment centre Club Mandisa tomorrow (Saturday). Kinnah, whose real name is Maligakini Saizi, ventured into music in 2000 and spend the better part of his career as a curtain raiser.
He became his own man last year after releasing hits such as Mai mwana, Kupera tsoka, Wings of Jah, Dai mabatana and Zheti and Mwari wedenga thanks to producers at Chill Spot Records among others who enabled him to cut his teeth into competitive dancehall scene.
While most Zim dancehall artistes usually stage live performances in pairs or with other supporting artistes from the same genre, the youthful artiste will for the first time tomorrow perform alone for the whole night. “He is going to headline this weekend’s show without any supporting act from Zim dancehall.
“We believe he is now an experienced young artiste who has a lot to offer. This is his chance to shine. “We urge fun lovers to come in numbers and witness sublime performance from Zim Dancehall’s wonder boy on stage,” said the organisers.
Among other accolades, Kinnah scooped the Zim dancehall 2014 Most Disciplined artiste. He was also nominated in the Zim dancehall Best Live Performer category. Harare-based dance ensemble, Extra Hot, will perform from tonight till Sunday and will be supported by resident dance group Club Mandisa.
