MATTHEW Rusike Children’s Home in Epworth yesterday received another big helping hand from Delta Corporation.
The company donated US$10,000 in cash to the children’s home.
It will install a CCTV security system, will undertake the partial construction of a new classroom block and the solarisation of the school’s and residential facilities.
Delta Corporation also supported the home’s agricultural and income-generating initiatives by establishing a shed net for the greenhouse and carrying out repairs to the piggery and fishery projects.
The upgrades are expected to improve food production and strengthen the institution’s self-sustaining programmes.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Delta Corporation General Manager for Corporate Affairs, Patricia Murambinda, said this was part of the company’s ongoing partnership with the children’s home.
“These are not isolated interventions. They form part of a long-standing partnership aimed at building resilience, self-reliance and opportunity,” said Murambinda.
Murambinda said the company prioritises education, food security, renewable energy and economic opportunities that benefit communities.
She acknowledged the contribution of other corporate partners supporting projects at the home, saying collaboration between the private sector, communities, development partners and government is essential in achieving lasting development.
Matthew Rusike Children’s Home National Director, Reverend Linrlelink Mutenzwa, said the projects will improve the institution’s operations.
“We want to thank our all-weather friend, Delta Corporation, for their continued support and commitment to our institution.
“These investments have improved security, enhanced the learning environment, reduced operating costs through renewable energy, and strengthened our home’s capacity to provide quality care for the children,” said Reverend Mutenzwa.
