PREPARATIONS for the 2026 World Cup are well underway across the globe.
Organisers, teams, officials and fans are busy making plans for the finals next summer being hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
However, for kit manufacturers the fruits of their labour have already been revealed ahead of the newly-expanded 48-team tournament.
SunSport has taken a look at all the kits set to be worn by the teams during sport’s most-watched event.
Argentina – Adidas
Starting off with the reigning world champions, Argentina retain their classic blue and white stripes with a modern reimagining.
The traditional vertical stripes now have a shapeshifting fade to blend their different colours of blue from their three Jules Rimet victories in 1978, 1986 and 2022.
A subtle detail on the back of the neck also sees the founding year of the AFA, 1896, etched into the collar.
Adidas have 22 football federations under their umbrella, each of which they say have been engineered in honour of “each nation’s roots but also to celebrate an era where every fan, everywhere, is part of the story”.
England – Nike
The England World Cup kit for next summer is yet to be confirmed by Nike.
However, early leaks of the apparent kit show a clean and safe design.
The leaked kit shows the Three Lions with a classic white home shirt with an intricate jacquard pattern on the chest and torso displaying a lion and stars.
Red inserts also compliment a navy trim around the neck and sleeves while inside the collar also displays the words ‘Happy and Glorious’ from the national anthem.
Germany – Adidas
Four-time world champions Germany will partner with adidas for the final time for the World Cup year with a kit that nods to the nation’s rich football heritage.
It draws on iconic kits and reimagines classic DNA through a modern lens, with sharp chevron detailing and diamond shapes in a call back to 1990 and 2014.
Wales – Adidas
The Wales‘ classic red base has been reworked with bold horizontal stripes of dark green, red and white.
The Dragons qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1958 in 2022, but failed to win a game, leaving them with a solitary win on their finals record from eight games.
Scotland – Adidas
Scotland‘s home jersey sees the iconic flag reworked into a bold repeating blue pattern with a navy base.
The Tartan Army have not qualified for a World Cup finals since 1998 and have never progressed past the Group Stage in any of the eight tournaments they have participated in.
Spain – Adidas
Winners in 2010, reigning European champions Spain will feel they have a great chance to land a second Jules Rimet.
Their new kit comes with a clean red base with yellow pinstripes for a fresh take on the iconic classics for the current generation.
Belgium – Adidas
Belgium‘s golden generation are long gone now, but the Red Devils’ World Cup kit has pulled no punches with a stained-glass window design reimagining the intricate architecture of the nation’s skyline.
A red base of flames pairs with black and yellow detailing along the shoulder to bring the national colours to life.
Italy – Adidas
For Italy, the three-time champions who failed to qualify for the last two tournaments, their 2026 kit is a blend of tradition and evolution.
Among the features on the collar include “Azzurra” gleaming in gold on the collar in an unmistakably Italian style –Sun.
