Cape Town — Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has escaped a touchline ban for running onto the pitch in celebration during the Merseyside derby after accepting an £8 000 fine.
Klopp accepted an FA misconduct charge for running onto the pitch after David Origi struck a 96th-minute winner against Everton an Anfield, on Sunday.
The German escapes a touchline ban and will pay a fine, with a warning regarding his future conduct. Klopp later confirmed that he had apologised to Everton boss Marco Silva.
“Immediately after the game I apologised to (Everton manager) Marco Silva when we spoke to each other,” Klopp said following the match. “I told him how much I respect his work.
“What can I say about it? I didn’t want to run. It was not in my plan.” – Sport24.
