THE body of former CAPS United kingpin Joe ‘’Kode’’ Mugabe is expected in Zimbabwe next Sunday.

Kode succumbed to gastro cancer, at the age of 52, in Reading, on August 8.

His brother Innocent said a funeral service was set to be held at Nyaradzo Centre, here in England, next Friday.

“The body will be in Zimbabwe on Sunday for burial,’’ he said.

“We have not decided whether he will be buried in Harare or Masvingo. It’s an issue which we have to discuss with others back home.’’ Kode is son of the late former Member of Parliament, Irene Mugabe, and the late ex-footballer, Joshua Mugabe.

He made his debut for the Green Machine in 1988 and went on to win the league championship, in 1996, and a number of trophies.

His stellar career saw him being nominated Soccer Star of the Year finalist four times in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 2001.

He was voted the CAPS United Players’ Player of the Season, a record four times in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 2001.

Kode also had a stint at former Premiership side, Sporting Lions, a club which was owned by Chimurenga music legend Thomas Mapfumo.

At the time of his death, he was the vice0-chairman of Zimbabwe Football Legends UK.
