CONGOLESE rhumba maestro, Koffi Olomide, is expected in the country tomorrow ahead of his performance in Kadoma this Saturday.
His arrival, two days before the show, will give him enough time to interact with fans, say event organisers. Koffi is billed to headline the “African Explosion” musical fete, along with Jah Prayzah and South African pop outfit, Mafikizolo.
Suluman Chimbetu, Tamy Moyo and Enzo Ishall are also part of the event.
In an interview with H-Metro, 2 Kings co-director — Dee Nosh — confirmed Koffi’s arrival.
“He will definitely arrive on Thursday. At the moment I am finialisling his paper work with the Immigration officials,” he said.
Earlier this week, event coordinator, Prince Mharadze, told H-Metro it was all systems go.
“We have done most of the logistics, with a few additions in the line-up.
“It’s a big event and we are also happy with the uptake of tickets at the event where we do expect a bumper crowd.
“Most of the rooms have been taken and it really promises to be a sold out gig,” he said.
Prince, who is also the son of 2 Kings Entertainment co-director, Tich Mharadze, said the event goes a long way in celebrating the best of the continent and among the locals.
“We are hosting some of the finest stars like Jah Prayzah, Koffi and Mafilizolo, who are big on the African continent.
“This show is special to us as we are celebrating some of the continent’s top acts,” he said.
The Saturday gig comes at a time when Jah Prayzah has been making global headlines.
He collaborated with Grammy Award winners, Morgan Heritage, on their new album titled Homeland.
It will be released on April 21.
He is also expected to sample new songs off his upcoming 12th album due for release in May.
Mafikizolo are tried-and-tested performers.
Last year, the Kadoma Odyssey Hotel hosted the Kadoma Music Festival, headlined by Jah Prayzah and South African musician, Makhadzi.
