A HARARE man offered $10 000 maintenance for his two minor kids saying he was unemployed.
Casper Chimara was hauled to court by his ex-lover, Yolanda Mumba, who demanded US$200 for the upkeep of their kids aged one and five years.
“He threatened that my kids and l will suffer alone and that he will not pay for anything.
“He refuses to let us get the kids to learn in the rural areas but doesn’t want to pitch in to help.
“It’s only when he signed the papers that he claimed to be unemployed.
“He passed through my house last week and my friend asked him to buy diapers but he refused saying he doesn’t want to be involved with us,” Yolanda said.

Casper denied the allegations saying he would do anything for his kids to get a proper education.
“l stay with my relatives, they are the ones taking care of me since l am not employed.
“I barely earn any money that’s why l am failing to cater for my kids but l love them and, as their father, l will pay $10 000 and the mother will do the rest,” he said.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavira ordered Chimara to pay US$60 or the equivalent.
“You have to own up to your responsibilities because she can’t go to the marketplace or school and ask for free services because you’re not working.
“The court is not obligated to change the currency and your offer is not even 50 percent to take care of the minors.”
