Takaendesa (30) had pleaded not guilty to raping the girl when his trial started before magistrate Ms Memory Chigwaza who convicted him after a full trial.
He was slapped with 15 years in jail but three years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
In passing sentence, Ms Chigwaza said Takaendesa took advantage of the girl who was new in town.
The State had urged the court to impose a stiff penalty on Takaendesa arguing that cases of rape were on the increase.
The State also noted that the offence was serious and called for a lengthy custodial sentence.
It proved that on July 24, the girl boarded a kombi, which was being driven by Takaendesa from town to Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.
When the commuter omnibus reached the prison gate other passengers disembarked, leaving the girl and the driver alone.
After disembarking from the kombi, the girl walked for a short distance before Takaendesa followed and caught up with her.
He produced a knife threatening to kill the girl after she turned down his love overtures.
Takaendesa grabbed the girl and dragged her into the bush before raping her. Although the girl screamed no one heard her.
The court also heard that after raping the girl, Takaendesa took her to his house where he again raped her twice.
Takaendesa spent the whole night with the girl and released her the following morning.
The girl reported her ordeal to one of her neighbours who then informed her mother.
She was taken to Chikurubi Maximum Prison Clinic for treatment before a report was filed at Highlands police station. She was referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital for medical examination.
Takaendesa was subsequently arrested.
