Kombi driver killed for dating married woman

A COMMUTER omnibus driver suspected to have been dating a married woman in Gokwe was allegedly killed by the woman’s husband, police have said.Solomon Tauro of Kadoma died soon after being admitted to Gweru Provincial Hospital.

Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Joel Goko, said Tauro was assaulted last Thursday and died the following day from injuries sustained.

“Circumstances are that on Thursday, Tauro, who was employed as a kombi driver by Shumba Greatness Tours of Kadoma, drove his commuter omnibus to Gokwe’s Mapfungautsi suburb. He went to see his girlfriend who is suspected to be a second wife of the suspect, Cleopas Magwira, 37. Magwira arrived unexpectedly and saw his wife seated in the front seat of the kombi. He started assaulting Tauro all over the body with fists. The suspect’s wife ran away,” he said.

Insp Goko said Magwira’s wife later gathered courage and returned in a bid to save her lover from further punishment.
He said Tauro managed to drive his commuter omnibus to a Total Service Station at Gokwe Town.

“On Friday, at about 6AM, Tauro was found lying unconscious with swollen eyes and deep cuts on his lips. A report was made to the police who attended the scene. Tauro was referred to Gokwe District Hospital from where he was transferred to Gweru Provincial Hospital.

“He died at around 6.35PM. Magwira was arrested and is assisting police with investigations,” said Insp Goko.

He appealed to members of the public not to use violence to solve their differences.

“When you have differences, please invite a third party to help you solve your differences,” said Insp Goko.
