Bigboy Ndlovu, 44, from Iminyela suburb, who his girlfriend alleges is on anti-retroviral treatment, allegedly threatened to stab her to death with a screwdriver if she resisted.

Ndlovu appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Temba Chimiso facing a rape charge.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to March 14.

Chimiso advised Ndlovu to apply for bail at the High Court.

Prosecuting, Kingston Mkanganwi   told the court that on Wednesday around 10PM Ndlovu visited his girlfriend at her house.

“He then asked to have unprotected sexual intercourse with her. The girlfriend refused knowing that Ndlovu was on ARVs. Ndlovu then threatened to kill her with a screwdriver,” said Mkanganwi.

The court heard that Ndlovu forcibly removed the woman’s clothes and raped her once.

Mkanganwi said the girl told her   landlord about the incident the following morning.

The matter was reported to the police.
