A 33-YEAR-OLD woman from Bulawayo’s Lobengula suburb allegedly left her husband nursing his wounds after she stabbed him with a kitchen knife on the ribs on Sunday following a misunderstanding over food. Stephen Nyoni, 37, asked his wife Chivaraidzo Matongo why she usually prepares food late and the accusation did not go down well with her, resulting in the alleged knife attack.

Nyoni was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is still admitted.

Matongo appeared before provincial magistrate Willard Maphios Moyo facing a physical abuse charge.

She was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to March 2 on free bail.

Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza told the court that on Sunday at around 11PM, Matongo and her husband Nyoni arrived home from a beergarden. Mageza said Matongo started preparing food in the kitchen while Nyoni was outside with his friends.

“When Matongo finished preparing food, Nyoni asked her why she doesn’t cook food on time. Matongo got angry, took a kitchen knife and stabbed Nyoni on his right side,” said Mageza.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Matongo’s arrest.

Last month, another woman from Sizinda stabbed her husband with a screwdriver three times on his chest and stomach after   he assaulted her for delaying to open the   door for him.
