Komphela cries foul

“I had a discussion with VV [Vladimir Vermezovic] and I thought the goalkeeper could have been sent off but it has been the story of my life this season,” he contends.
Two months ago, the former Bafana Bafana skipper lamented the standard of refereeing in the League saying, “It is purely rubbish and if you go through the rubbish then you will come out stinking” and now he suggests that dubious officiating is the reason his team is sitting in fifth spot on the log, instead of being top of the log.

Komphela says Ea Lla Koto have lost 10 points, because of poor refereeing.
“If I had to do a calculation that is abnormal; it would be three points from Chiefs, excuse me VV and add the other seven that gives us 10 points and add that to our 24 points then we will be on 34 points,” he says.
Komphela says he is compelled to speak out, but that’s as far as it goes.

“It seems talking doesn’t help so we just have to take it and say congratulations to Kaizer Chiefs.
“I will go back to my famous statements; an error is an error if committed once and an error becomes suspicious if committed twice and thrice. But the minute it becomes more consistent, then it is deliberate,” Komphela concludes.

Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs coach, Vladimir Vermezovic, says the biggest challenge facing the club at the moment is sorting out players’ contracts.
Chiefs are facing a precarious situation with more than 10 players out of contract at the end of June 2012.
Players who are facing an uncertain future at the club include Siphiwe Tshabalala, Itumeleng Khune, Josta Dladla, Mandla Masango and George Lebese. All the players, whose contracts are due to expire in six months will be free to negotiate deals with other teams from January and Vermezovic admits that players who have no idea what the future holds for them may lose focus on the job at hand, which is winning the League.

“A lot of players in our team will have their contracts expire in June and Bobby Motaung is working on these things,” Vermezovic states.
According to Fifa transfer rules, “A player can sign a pre-contract with another club for a free transfer if the player’s contract with their existing club has six months or less remaining”, which in simple terms means that Chiefs have barely two weeks to convince players to sign new contracts with the club before the other teams are allowed to enter the fray from January.

“I hope that Bobby will find a solution and that all of them can sign their new contracts before we come back from the two-month break. It will be important that players face the second round with clear heads,” Vermezovic concludes.

In other news Ajax Cape Town beat Golden Arrows 1-0 in a League encounter played at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Ajax goal was scored by George Maluleka in the first-half.
The visitors played a pressing game from the start and it paid off in the eight minute when Vilakazi won possession in the Arrows half and initiated a quick counter-attack which saw Brent Carelse playing a perfect pass for George Maluleka, who buried a low shot into the back of the net.

The Urban Warriors could’ve doubled their league just three minutes later from a counter-attacking move when Khama Billiat played a low cross into the box, but Arrows goalkeeper Helton Da Rocha was able to grab the ball before Maluleka could get to it.—Kickoff.
