TONGA musician, Day Tawanda Ncube, of the Kujata Jata fame, has postponed the release of his album due to financial constraints.

Despite all the fame he garnered with the hit song Kujata Jata, Bio DT Mudimba – as the singer is fondly known – has not amassed fortune to match his fame.

The album, which was set to be released end of this month, has been postponed to a later date.

The sungura musician said it will be released when they have enough resources.

“We had to postpone the album launch due to financial constraints and lack of resources that could facilitate the project’s successful launch.

“It was supposed to be released at the end of this month and now we have to push it forward, we will announce the date as time goes on depending on the availability of resources.

“In the meantime, we will be giving our fans a collaboration track that we are working on with Shantel Sithole and it is going to be part of her album that will be launched next month if all goes according to plan,” he said.

He said artists were facing serious financial challenges.

“Our main challenge as artists is finance, which plays a key role in accessing the endless list of our required resources for the projects,” he said.

Mudimba is famed for his creative edge after he introduced his own version of sungura.

Unlike most sungura artistes copying Alick Macheso, Mudimba demonstrated his creativity, which has made him a darling of many.

Fellow musicians have also endorsed him as a new gem in sungura who is destined for stars.
