Kumalo Primary School head fraud case further postponed

Court Reporter

THE trial date for Kumalo Primary School headmistress Stella Mhlanga is yet to be set after the State again remanded the matter to August 8.

The matter had been remanded to June 25, when the State noted that it was not ready to proceed with the case because police had not completed investigations.

Mhlanga is jointly charged with her deputy Enelesi Sibanda (56) and teachers Nombulelo Maiswe (57), Rumbidzai Magwaku (36) and Siphatheleni Sibanda (52).

The five are facing fraud charges.

The matter came to light in February this year when the School Development Committee (SDC) flagged inconsistencies in the school’s financial records.

The irregularities prompted a Government-led audit, which subsequently led to the arrest of the suspects.

The matter is being heard before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Shepherd Munjanja while Ms Brenda Nyoni is representing the State.

Mhlanga and the other four teachers are accused of misappropriating school funds.
