Former Mr Zimbabwe, Dhyaan “Don Savania” Kumar, has called for multiculturalism for diversity and growth of the entertainment industry.

In an interview with H-Metro, Kumar said there is a need to start engaging people from all cultures.

“We as an industry need to work together with all cultural backgrounds in order to grow, not only ourselves, but our industry as a whole.

“There are so many people out there, especially now in Zimbabwe, who are from the diaspora and from other countries who have moved here.

“They need to be approached and I am sure they along with us all can make greater improvements in growing our industry’s multiculturalism,” he said.

He said diversity can improve the quality of awards and content creation.

“I believe there is a need for us to involve more experienced people in our industry.

‘‘There are a lot of people out there who have first-hand experience on awards ceremonies and there is a need to involve them so that they can help improve the standard of awards.

“From my own personal experience, I have been to awards ceremonies over the last years and I must say that we are improving as the years go by. Each year is getting better and that is a good sign of growth.

“I am very sure that we will get to the standard we want very soon. Our people are very talented and gifted,” said Kumar.

Kumar, who is also an actor and musician, is working tirelessly to help and support upcoming talents reach their goals.

“I am working on projects which have different cultures involved. Other cultural backgrounds should learn the Zimbabwean culture and vice versa.

“Through my experiences, I’d love to support upcoming talent because I believe that as we grow in our careers, we shouldn’t be selfish.

‘‘I also nurture and help a lot of upcoming artists in the industry.

“We should give back to our industry. That is our love and our pride and the future should learn from us so that we have a better industry,” he said.
