The gala attracted participants from nine schools — Gateway, Watershed, Eaglesvale, Churchill, St John’s Emerald, Churchill, Heritage, Allan Wilson, Westridge and Watershed.
The win saw Kutama being promoted into A Division having dominated most of the galas that have been held in the past weeks.
They amassed 604 points to claim top spot. Gateway were second with 513 while Eaglesvale came third with 452 points.
Heritage and Churchill finished on fourth and fifth position with 440 and 433 points respectively.
St John’s Emerald Hill collected 263 points to finish on sixth place while Allan Wilson were on seventh place with 244 points.
Watershed and Westridge came eighth and ninth with 158 and 148 points respectively.
Participants took part in four age groups – Under-14, Under-15, Under-16 and Under-18.
They competed in the individual breaststroke, backstroke, freestyle and medley relay 25m and 50m.
Allan Wilson sports director, Livingstone Maurukira, was impressed with the turnout of the schools and the level of competition displayed by the participants.
“It was an inter-schools swimming gala. It was resuscitated recently and it’s actually a step ahead because most schools do not have swimming pools.
“The competition was quite okay.
“It’s also good to see schools like Gateway coming to our school for the competition.
“Kutama were promoted into the A Division because of their performance. Almost 500 swimmers took part and the competition has actually improved because last year some schools were disqualified but this year they have improved and we did not have any school being disqualified,” said Maurukira.
The meet was the last for this year after running for several weeks.
