FORMER Highlanders captain, Rahman Kutsanzira has described as tough the decision to leave the Bulawayo giants after he joined 2017 league champions FC Platinum.
The 29-year-old linkman has joined FC Platinum on a two-year contract and has been registered by the Zvishavane-based club for the Confederation of African Football Champions League.
“It was a very hard decision parting ways with Highlanders because it is was a childhood dream to be part of the club. It is a big club in the country, widely known and respected, it was an honour to serve and lead it,’’ Kutsanzira said.
The creative midfielder also revealed that leaving Highlanders remains a tough call he had to make about his career but a decision had to be made.
“At the end of day it is football, after weighing the options I made a decision to move and I feel it was the right time,’’ he said.
On reasons for turning his back on Highlanders for the second time in his career, Kutsanzira pointed out that taking up a new challenge at FC Platinum was his biggest motivation. Kutsanzira once left Bosso for Caps United.
“I saw joining FC Platinum as an opportunity to be seized and a chance to develop as a player, while exploring other avenues,’’ he said.
The player who has an impeccable passing ability, skill and a strong work ethic feels he is ready for his next adventure at his new club.
“I am ready for the next challenge at FC Platinum even though it will not be easy since it will be a new environment for me but as a professional player you have to learn to adjust to different situations, but I will soldier on until I settle in well,” he said.
The midfielder whose top drawer performances earned him the armband at Bosso revealed that it is a dream come true to play in the Caf Champions League.
“As a player it is a dream to play in the Caf Champions League because it gives exposure to footballers on an international scene and it is highly competitive and significant in a player’s career. I would feel very good if I get an opportunity to play,’’ Kutsanzira said.
He thanked the Bosso supporters, the executive, coaches and technical team for their support throughout his journey at Highlanders, the great relations he shared with the club and Bosso community whom he will forever cherish.
