TOP South African rapper, Kwesta, real name Zenzo Mfundo Vilakazi, will cement his romance with Zimbabweans when he graces Saintfloew’s album launch this Saturday at Alexandra Sports Club, Harare.
In what can easily pass as the ‘Young Turks’ of showbiz’s party of the year, Saintfloew’s event will parade an array of youthful musicians commanding a huge following in Zimbabwe and regionally.
Top rappers Voltz JT and Michael Magz will alternate under one roof along with Tamy Moyo, Nisha TS, Silent Killer, Master H and the Chillspot Family clique of DJ Fantan, Levels and Ribhe. Special guests comprising Hatiperi Wacho, Blot, MC Gully, Ma9ne, MC Tatts, Ninety_6, Chief Ben, Pretty Gangsta and King Her, headline the line-up.
The addition of these guests will purely make the event a celebration of music, fashion and style at Saintfloew’s album launch.
Event coordinator and NashTV general manager, Mona-Lisa Dube, confirmed Kwetsa’s involvement in Saintfloew’s album launch.
“I confirm that Kwetsa will be arriving in Harare this Friday for the album launch.
“Everything is well on course for the launch. What makes the event unique is we are bringing a regional act as compared to the previous launch,” she said.
Dube could not be drawn into revealing the title of the album.
“The album name will be divulged a day before the launch. He also collaborated with some other artistes on this album but I am not in a position to give you the names.”
Last year, Saintfloew launched his first album titled ‘Rise & Lead’ at the same venue, attracting a big crowd despite the event clashing with the 2023 Jacaranda Music Festival held at Old Hararians.
He still managed to attract a big crowd during his launch which was well attended.
Last year, he took his choreography to another level with a coffin stunt. He appeared on stage carried in a coffin symbolising his successful battle against drug and substance abuse. A creative genius in his own right, a lot is also expected this year when he launches his second album. Kwesta, who is set to provide variety at the show, is a tried and tested performer in his homeland. At 36, Kwesta has risen to become a role model among the youths in Africa, the same goal Saintfloew is chasing in Zimbabwe.
Locals have plenty to learn from Kwesta who has also collaborated with some of the top rappers from the US like Rick Ross and South Africa including Cassper Nyovest, Kabza De Small, Focalistic among others.
Besides his international acclaim, Kwesta has never forsaken his roots. According to his official biography, he was born on August 11 1988 in Katlehong, East Rand, South Africa. Like most of his peers, he started his career in high school.
He had a passion for poetry before he transformed himself into a rapper.
Kwesta’s journey dates back to 2003 when he used to perform with a hip-hop ensemble called Ghetto Fellaz, which later renamed to The Juvenylz.
He never looked back as the rapper has been doing well since 2005 after refining his skills.
