Laduma clinch Bafa title

LADUMA FC clinched the Bulawayo Amateur Football Association (Bafa) League title after being awarded three points when Seven Warriors failed to turn up for their fixture at Barbourfields outside grounds yesterday.

The points saw them earning the promotional ticket into Division Three next season.

With just one game remaining in the season, Laduma are topping the table with 73 points while nearest rivals Rebels are on 69 points followed by Crusaders with 47 points.

Their last match will be against Nga Chronicle who are 13th on the league table.

Laduma coach Dominick Sibanda said it is fitting his side won the title.

“This is a big moment for us as a team and it is truly fitting that we were crowned champions. The boys were remarkably consistent and efficient throughout the season. I’m truly impressed with the way the team has gone about every game we played. They are truly deserving champions,” he said.

“The possibility of writing our own piece of history is what pushed us this far. We prepared very hard and I guess all the hard work paid off. It’s so sad that our opponents couldn’t make it to the match because we wanted to increase our goal tally,” Sibanda said.

Laduma joined the Bafa League this year and they have made a remarkable run in the competition going as far as reaching the Townshend and Butcher final where they lost 0-2 to competition favourites Rebels FC.

In other matches, Eleven Stars thrashed Securico 10-3 while SBC Falcons were awarded three points for their fixture against expelled Madamara FC.
