THE late Bulawayo City Council town clerk, Middleton Nyoni, will be buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery tomorrow. Nyoni, 62, died after a long battle with a cancer ailment. Bulawayo mayor councillor Martin Moyo has invited residents to attend a funeral service to be held at the Large City Hall today.

“Residents of Bulawayo, stakeholders and sister local authorities are invited to the funeral service of the late town clerk of the City of Bulawayo, Mr Middleton Nyoni, which will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the Large City Hall from 3PM to 6PM,” the mayor said in a statement.

“The burial service will be held on Friday, October 2, from 8AM at Pelandaba Seventh Day Adventist Church followed by burial at Lady Stanley Cemetery.”

The local authority also sent text messages to Bulawayo residents on its database notifying them of the funeral arrangements.

The BCC described Nyoni as a great visionary who was diligent in his duties.

Nyoni was appointed town clerk on May 6, 2009, and has been in that position until his untimely death.

Nyoni had been on leave since late last year and in his absence the chamber secretary, Sikhangele Zhou, has been acting town clerk.

He is survived by wife Thabiso and four children.

Mourners are gathered at Number 5 Inglewood Place, Woodlands, Bulawayo.
