They are level on games with Giants but have now moved to 16 points and they look like the favourites to clinch the BBA title with the last games set for next weekend. Lakers are the only team that travelled to Gweru to fulfill their fixtures with the other teams excusing themselves.
“Some of our teams that were supposed to go to Gweru for the weekend matches could not do so but since they communicated, they were not walked over.
“The teams will now play their games next weekend,” said Charmaine Chirinda, a BBA official.
On Friday ALCC (m) mauled Oilers 77-43 at the Bulawayo Club of the Disabled (BCD) Courts to move to the third spot on the log.
Mthokozisi Sithole of ALCC got the highest baskets with 28. Giants (m) narrowly edged a spirited young Stars side 52-51 with the experience of Emmanuel Mukandi and Muchengeti Hamandishe being called to block the Stars assault led by national Under-18 player Malcom Hove who fought a man’s fight and scored 29 points to be the highest scorer in the match.
Eighth-placed ZB Titans (m) failed to pitch up for their clash with Highlanders and hence lost 20-0 courtesy of a walkover decision.
The walkover saw Highlanders move to within a point of log leaders Unicorns who did not play last weekend.
