Lampard will come back: Drogba

NEW Chelsea signing Didier Drogba believes club legend Frank Lampard will also make a return to Stamford Bridge, following his move away from England.
Drogba, who has returned to the Blues on a year’s contract, spoke for the first time of former team mates Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard, who have since transferred to Italy and America respectively.

“This is the first time I’ve had a chance to speak about those two players that left,” the Ivorian striker told the Sun.
“Ash [Cole] was the best left-back in the world and I was lucky to have him in my team because when he was at Arsenal he was a difficult player to play against.

“He became a better player when he came to Chelsea.”
Drogba then hailed Lampard for the successful partnership the duo shared at Chelsea, with the 36-year-old frontman believing the midfielder “belongs” in London.

“Everyone knows exactly what Frank meant to me,” he said.
“People say I scored a lot of goals but he was involved in almost all of them.

“The partnership with him was incredible and he’s a legend at this club. I know he will also come back one day because he belongs to the Blues.”

Drogba then gave his backing to fellow strike partner and new signing Diego Costa, who he believes will excel in the Premier League.
“I’ve been watching Diego play over the last few years and the first time I saw him I really liked him as a player,” he said.

“I like his character, he’s solid, he can score goals and he’s also technically gifted. He likes people to respect him and that’s important.”
The former Galatasaray forward, who has 157 Chelsea goals to his name, feels the club’s new signings, including Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, will be vital to the side’s successful campaign this season.

“It was very important for us to buy these players, they are all good signings,” he said.
“To have Cesc with us, I think he’ll understand it’s better to be with us than against us.

“They are good players and I hope they will bring their talent and experience to the team.”
Chelsea begin their League campaign with an away fixture against newcomers Burnley on Monday, 18 August. — Kickoff.
