An Odzi man, who was locked in a land dispute with his neighbour, is battling for his life at Mutare Provincial Hospital after he was stabbed during a heated argument over a piece of land.

Mr Eric Chamutsa (27) is believed to have sustained severe injuries on Monday morning after he was allegedly stabbed on his right ribs by his neighbour Simon Musekanyedze (age not given). Manicaland deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the incident.

He said the two were neighbours and had each been claiming ownership of the same piece of land and accusing each other of trying to grab the land. Investigations are still in progress.

“We received a case of two men who fought over a piece of land, leading into one of them being stabbed in the right ribs,” said Asst Insp Chananda. “As for now, we are still to establish the owner of the land.

“Chamutsa is admitted at Mutare Provincial Hospital where he is receiving treatment. The accused is still at large.”
