A NKETA 9 landlord stole a page from former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Mike Tyson, when a rent dispute with his tenant ended with fists flying and a chunk nearly missing from the tenant’s hand.
Lovemore Ndlovu (40), like Tyson when he was frustrated by Evander Holyfield in 1997, brought teeth into a fist fight with Johannes Moyo (50).
Ndlovu appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Archie Wochiwunga, facing physical abuse charges for allegedly unleashing a combo of punches and a jaw-snapping bite on his tenant.
Prosecutor, Audrey Kufandikanwe told the court that tensions boiled over at their shared residence when Ndlovu, seated with his mother in the sitting room, decided to confront Moyo about unpaid rent and electricity bills.
As Moyo returned home and attempted to enter his room, Ndlovu reportedly blocked the doorway like a human barrier and launched into attack mode.
He allegedly rained fists on Moyo’s body before chomping down on his right hand like it was a drumstick.
In court, Ndlovu admitted to biting the complainant, but denied delivering the full-body beatdown.
“Yes, I bit him, but I didn’t punch him like that,” he said, sparking murmurs in the courtroom.
The bizarre bite-and-beat saga left Moyo bruised and nursing a painful bite wound while the magistrate postponed the matter to 2 July for trial continuation.
From rent reminders to toothy violence, Nketa 9 residents are now wondering if rent disputes need a referee and maybe a muzzle…
