A GREENDALE man was arrested on Sunday night after being caught in the act raping his uncle’s tenant.
Zelusi Nhlahla, 30, a nephew of the landlord, who resides at the same house, gained entry into the victim’s cottage, through the roof top, and raped her several times.
The 26-year-old woman screamed for help, but the landlord and other tenants could not rescue her, as Zelusi, who was believed to have been under the influence of drugs, violently repealed them.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the rape and arrest, yesterday.
“Police are investigating a rape case where the accused gained entry into the room of the victim through the roof top on Sunday close to midnight,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The victim tried to escape, but was caught and wrestled to the floor, choked and raped several times.
“The victim’s landlord got into the room and tried in vain to stop the accused, who became violent, as he was under the influence of drugs.
“He rushed to lodge a report at Rhodesville Police Station and the accused was found in the act and arrested,” said Insp Chakanza.
Zelusi is expected to appear at the Harare Magistrates’ Court today.
