THE Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, and Rural Development is presently hosting an exciting sports gala at Esigodini Agricultural College, which is part of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Colleges Sports Association (ZACSA).

The event brings together students from eight agricultural colleges across Zimbabwe, providing them with an opportunity to engage in healthy competition, promote physical fitness, and foster social interaction among peers.

ZACSA, the body organising the event, serves as a dynamic platform uniting agricultural colleges through annual inter-college sports competitions. The primary aim of the event is to promote physical wellness, teamwork, and talent development, creating a space where students pursuing agricultural education can thrive in both academics and extracurricular activities. Participating colleges include Chibero Agricultural College, Gwebi Agricultural College, Kushinga Phikelela Agricultural College, Mlezu Agricultural College, Mazowe Veterinary College, Rio Tinto Agricultural College, and Shamva Agricultural College.

The event spans five days, with travel days reserved for the weekend. Esigodini Agricultural College is hosting the sports gala, a responsibility that rotates annually among the participating institutions. This rotating hosting model ensures equal representation and institutional pride, allowing each college to showcase its organizational capabilities and capacity for hosting such a prestigious event.

The sports gala features a wide range of sporting disciplines, ensuring that there is something for every student to enjoy. Competitions include soccer, volleyball, netball, chess, darts, pool, athletics, high jump, long jump, and tug of war. These sports not only offer a competitive edge but also encourage teamwork and social bonding among students. The variety in events ensures inclusivity, allowing students of various interests and athletic abilities to participate.
