Langa hails President’s policies

Speaking at a speech and prize giving day ceremony at Mpalawani Primary School in Ward 21 in Insiza District on Wednesday, Cde Langa said despite the imposition of sanctions by the West the country continued to forge ahead with its developmental programmes.

“Despite the imposition of sanctions, this country has continued to develop and turn around its economy because of the good policies that the President has put in place such as the Land Reform Programme and the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Programme. If it were not for the policies that were introduced by the President, the country would not have attained its present development stage. We thank the President for his policies,” said Cde Langa, who is also the MP for Insiza North where the school is situated.

He urged the community in the district to support the President in developing their area.

“Don’t expect the President to come here to develop your area while you stand by and expect all development projects to be done by the President himself. So you need to stop criticising Zanu-PF and work with us to promote the country’s development,” he said.

Cde Langa who is also the Deputy Minister of Public Service also commended the country for having a high literacy rate on the entire African continent and said credit should be given to the President as it was a result of his policies.

He said it was also everyone’s role to see to it that the countrys literacy rate is maintained through the provision of conducive learning environment for children.

“Teachers and parents need to put more effort in developing the education sector because these children are tomorrow’s leaders and their future lies in our hands. Without creating a conducive learning environment for them, we will be disturbing their future,” said Cde Langa.

He applauded teachers for their resilience during the economic challenges, saying a majority of them remained loyal to serving the nation.

“We would like to thank the teachers for your patience during the economic hardships because we know that your salaries cannot sustain you and your families. As the Government, we are very much aware of your difficult situation and we know that we should pay you salaries, which are above the Poverty Datum Line. We are failing to do so because of the low revenue inflows,” said Cde Langa.
He said the Government would ensure that all children had access to education despite their social status.

Cde Langa and his wife, Mrs Clara Langa, donated goods worth $4 000 to Mpalawani Primary School.
The guest of honour, a Zvishavane based lawyer, Mr Herbert Tafa donated 10 desks to the school, saying that the corporate world needed to actively participate in promoting the education sector.
He urged parents to take a leading role in supporting their children to have access to education.

“Education is not a privilege but a constitutional right for every child. Therefore, I urge all parents to avoid abstaining children from school so that they can serve your interests. I would like to implore parents here present to see that the foundation of your children’s future lies squarely in your hands,” said Mr Tafa.
