CDE Nkosilomusa Moses Langa, son of former Sports Minister Andrew Langa, has been selected as the Zanu-PF candidate for the forthcoming national assembly by-election in the Insiza North constituency.

The by-election, which follows the recent passing of Cde Farai Taruvinga, resulted from Cde Langa’s victory in the party’s primary election held on Saturday.

Cde Taruvinga, who died last month at the age of 53, had represented the constituency since 2018 and was a vocal figure in the National Assembly on developmental issues affecting Matabeleland South.

Confirming his victory in the primary elections, Cde Langa, who is also the Zanu-PF Matabeleland South youth league provincial chairperson, applauded the constituency, saying the elections were held in a peaceful manner.

“I can confirm the results, which made me the preferred candidate for the people in Insiza North.

“As a candidate of Zanu-PF, the party, from Provincial chairman Cde Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu and the whole provincial executive, through the commissariat department headed by Cde Machacha, they will lead the campaign, I am just a representative,” said Cde Langa.

Cde Langa said as a party, they will need to focus on issues that affect communities, including water and sanitation, health facilities, and other matters in line with the President’s philosophy of leaving no place and no one behind.

He emphasised the need for development of infrastructure, including roads and the establishment of pre-school centres in villages to support early childhood development.

Other issues raised by Cde Langa include women and youth empowerment, noting that the highest number of voters are youths who need support so that they can play their part in economic development.

Other candidates who were vying for the same position include Cde Qhubani Moyo (Ward 22), Cde Clever Sibanda (Ward 20), Cde Delani Moyo (Ward 13), Cde Sifiso Mpofu (Ward 19), Cde Nkosana Mthunzi (Ward 19), Cde Ernest Ncube (Ward 17), Cde Davison Moyo (Ward 21), and Cde Lindelwe Ndlovu (Ward 14).
