Remember yesteryear musician Michael Lannas of the popular Talking Drum band and his hit song “Come to Me (Hapana Mazwi”)?
Well, the musician is set for a major return when he holds a show dubbed “Ngoma Dzinotaura” on Sunday at 102 Thetford Road, Avonlea, Harare.
The event, which has been described as a perfect homecoming show for the singer who is based in United Kingdom, will see some of the local giants such as Kelly Rusike and Jazz Invitation, Dizmatic, Nick Kuraz, Ruda C and Trey Sean sharing the stage with the veteran musician.
In an interview, Lannas said all was set for the private event which will be hosted under Covid-19 regulations and restrictions.
“It is a perfect event and I am happy to be back in Zimbabwe,” he said.
“The event will have a limited number and will go according to plan.”
Lannas will not only sample some of his latest songs, but will go down memory lane by playing his yesteryear hits.
“I will be performing those old hit songs, rekindling the romance with my fans,” he said.
“I have a couple of new songs that I will share with my fans.”
The event will start in the afternoon until 6pm.
Lannas says his inspiration came from African migrant workers.
He can be remembered for hits such as, “The River”, “Come To Me (Hapana Mazwi)” and “Moyo Wangu Urikuchema”.
Before forming his own group or rather what he calls music concept, Talking Drum, Lannas started out music in a band called Dharma with Isaac Chirwa and made many movements.
As Talking Drum, he worked with Kelly Rusike, Ngoni Andrew Chikuse, Matthew Ngorima, Mark Madzinga, Nicholas Mutuwa, Hazel Fernandes, Kelvin Tsapi, Tammy Chirema, Pikirai Mangindi, Courage Gwezhira and Albert Dust Carr on different projects.
