In a statement yesterday, police chief spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said they had identified all the people who died during the accident.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to advise the nation that that remaining four out of the 11 people who died in a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 26km peg along the Cross Dete-Binga road on 24 August have been identified,” she said.

The four are Miriam Sileli (38), Stalia Muchimba (34), Melon Mudenda (34) and Monica Mutale (40) all from Binga.

“We would like to pass our deepest condolences to families who lost their relatives and also wish the injured a speedy recovery,” Snr Asst Comm Charamba said.

The recent accident occurred at the 26-kilometre peg along the Cross Dete-Binga Road. The 10-tonne Iveco truck was carrying 130 members of the Apostolic Faith Mission, who were on their way from Siabuwa in Binga to Hwange for a church conference when the accident occurred in the early hours of August 24. Ten people died on the spot, while the 119 members who were injured were rushed to Kamativi Clinic, St Patrick’s Hospital and Hwange Colliery Hospital.
