A MAN who caught his neighbour banging his bedroom door is battling for his life in hospital after his neighbour severely axed him on the head.

While Collen Moyo (51) was in deep sleep in his bedroom hut, his wife Nomsa Mathosi woke him up after she was disturbed by a loud bang on their bedroom door.

Mathosi said after that her husband rushed to the door to check who was banging the door, strangely it was their neighbour Michael Hungwe (age not supplied). Upon asking him why he was knocking on the door, Hungwe tried to run away but Moyo pursued him and caught up with him.

“Hungwe, who was holding a small axe, attacked him with an axe several times on the head and he tumbled to the ground and collapsed,” said Mathosi.

Efforts to get a comment from Moyo were fruitless as he said: “I’m in intense pain, I cannot talk to the press.”

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Hungwe.

Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and said investigations were in progress.
